서울AI재단, IBM과 협력···”공공 AI 서비스 혁신 추진”

협약식에는 김만기 서울AI재단 이사장과 이수정 IBM 코리아 대표이사를 비롯해 IBM 퀀텀 총괄 임원 페트라 플로리존느 등 양 기관 주요 인사들이 참석해 AI와 양자컴퓨팅을 중심으로 한 신기술의 공공영역 활용 확대와 글로벌 기술 협력 강화 방안을 논의했다.

서울AI재단은 이번 협약이 AI와 양자컴퓨팅 등 차세대 핵심 기술을 공공서비스 혁신에 접목하고 공공 부문의 효율성과 투명성 제고, 데이터 기반 의사결정 역량 강화를 위한 협력의 틀을 마련한 데 의미가 있다고 밝혔다.

양 기관은 △공공부문 효율성 및 투명성 제고를 위한 AI·양자컴퓨팅 기술 활용 기회 발굴 △‘IBM 퀀텀 스타트업(Quantum Startup) 프로그램’을 통한 스타트업 및 중소기업 신기술 적용·도입 지원 △AI 및 양자컴퓨팅 분야 교육·연구· 인재양성 프로그램 운영 △공공서비스 혁신 및 기술 활용성과 홍보·공유 등 다양한 분야에서 협력을 추진할 예정이다.

서울AI재단은 이번 협약을 계기로 IBM의 세계적인 기술 역량과 글로벌 네트워크를 활용해 AI, 양자컴퓨팅 등 혁신 기술의 공공영역 적용 가능성을 구체적으로 모색할 계획이다. 또한 스타트업과 중소기업이 AI·양자컴퓨팅 자원을 활용할 수 있는 기반을 마련하여 서울이 글로벌 혁신 생태계의 중심지로 자리매김하도록 지원할 방침이다.

김만기 서울AI재단 이사장은 “AI, 양자컴퓨팅을 비롯한 신기술들이 행정 효율성과 데이터 기반 정책 결정, 사회문제 해결에 새로운 가능성을 열어줄 기술로 주목받고 있다는 점에서 IBM과의 업무협약 체결은 매우 뜻깊다. 서울AI재단은 앞으로도 글로벌 기술 기업과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 ‘AI City 서울’을 구현하기 위해 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
