SAP integrates SmartRecruiters with SuccessFactors

SAP has integrated SmartRecruiters, the hiring tool it acquired last September, into its SuccessFactors platform, it said Wednesday. The move, it said, “establishes the foundation for a fully connected talent architecture, where hiring decisions, skills intelligence, and workforce planning can operate as one system.”

SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors offers an end-to-end hiring experience with embedded AI. The integration connects this functionality to the overall employee lifecycle, enabling seamless bidirectional data flow between SmartRecruiters and SuccessFactors.

The integration also offers a single login for SmartRecruiters and SuccessFactors, as well as unified navigation, and the two platforms’ AI assistants, Joule on the SAP side and Winston at SmartRecruiters, work together as connected agents.

There are new security features too, including fraud detection, enhanced consent management, and applicant data transferability to “help embed trust in the hiring cycle,” SAP said.

SAP is also determinedly incorporating AI throughout the hiring experience. “The power of integration delivered by SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors extends beyond hiring, creating a connected, AI-enabled talent experience across the entire SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite and, ultimately, SAP Business Suite,” the company said.

More AI in the hiring experience is not something with universal appeal, on either side of the transaction: AI-generated resumés are making it harder for employers to evaluate candidates, while applicants fear AI will favor keywords over qualifications and experience.

SAP’s customers will get some choice in the matter, though: The company emphasized that, as promised last year, customers will for the time being be able to choose whether to use SmartRecruiters or stick with the SuccessFactors recruiting module.

“With the enhanced benefits of SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors, simple and flexible integration paths are now available for customers currently using the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting solution,” the company said. “SAP will continue to honor all contracts, and customers will not be required to migrate.”
