When discussing digital transformation, I find it helpful to ground the discussion in a definition. In Forrester’s 2018 Predictions piece, the research and analyst firm offers the following description: digital transformation is “the critical response needed to meet rising customer expectations, deliver individualized experiences at scale, and operate at the speed of the market.” That’s a heavy set of responsibilities for today’s CIOs. It’s no wonder that the same Forrester piece finds that 60 percent of executives believe they are behind in digital transformation.
