Oracle updates Fusion Cloud SCM with AI-based features

Oracle is adding new user experience (UX) enhancements to its Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) offering, the company announced at the CloudWorld 2024 conference.

These enhancements, according to Natalia Rachelson, group vice president of Fusion Cloud Application, would help customers leverage AI to increase workforce productivity, expand visibility, accelerate processes, and prioritize the next best action to drive results.

The enhancements include a production supervisor workbench, a maintenance supervisor workbench, order management enhancements, and updates around product lifecycle management (PLM).

The production supervisor workbench, according to Rachelson, is designed to help enterprises improve manufacturing performance by infusing real-time insights into work orders with the help of generative AI-powered shift reporting.

“With this new smart operations for manufacturing capability in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing, production supervisors can achieve their work center’s production goals by focusing on issues impacting operational performance,” Rachelson explained.

The maintenance supervisor workbench, on the other hand, is designed to help enterprises increase productivity and reduce asset downtime by solving issues faster.

This workbench, which is housed under Fusion Cloud Maintenance — a part of Fusion Cloud SCM, provides supervisors access to a single view for scheduling and getting real-time alerts on critical issues requiring immediate attention, Rachelson explained.

Other updates, such as order management enhancements, according to the company, are designed to help enterprises increase operational performance by enabling users to create and find orders, take actions, and engage customers.

“The latest enhancements to Oracle Fusion Cloud Order Management enable users to perform mass actions or updates on multiple order lines, take advantage of new search capabilities, review alternative fulfillment options, and leverage generative AI-powered order acknowledgment emails and order change history notes,” the company explained in a statement.

Oracle has also updated the Cloud PLM module inside Cloud SCM to include updated search capabilities, a new item catalog page and bill of materials (BOM) user interface, a new PLM navigator and landing page, and manufacturer management capabilities to improve supplier and component visibility.

In February, the company updated Fusion Cloud SCM by adding new capabilities to Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management applications.

At CloudWorld 2023, Oracle had added generative AI-based features to all its Fusion Cloud Applications.

RFID-powered inventory management for healthcare firms

In addition, Oracle is adding a new RFID-powered inventory management offering to help healthcare firms ensure better patient care.

“The new RFID for Replenishment offering in Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management, part of Oracle Cloud SCM, utilizes RFID technologies from Avery Dennison, Terso Solutions, and Zebra Technologies to automatically capture usage, update stock balances, track location, and trigger restocking of supplies and materials,” the company said, adding that the offering has been made available.

The RFID-powered offering can help healthcare firms track medical supplies, automate replenishment of different products, get real-time visibility into the inventory of products, and reduce chances of human error.
