How Wipro made adopting RISE with SAP at a near-zero migration cost possible

The potential of innovation is exciting given how technology solutions are progressively evolving into an everything-as-a-service due to the advent of the cloud.

This is seen clearly in enterprise resource planning (ERP). Of all the different ways of adopting ERP tools, the cloud ERP model goes further by shifting from a total cost of ownership (TCO) to a cost innovation aspect. This helps customers become more operationally agile and generate value in a constantly evolving environment while adhering to social responsibility and sustainability initiatives.

RISE with SAP represents SAP’s efforts in delivering ERP-as-a-Service. It is aimed at alleviating mundane tasks that current operating models focus on. In essence, RISE with SAP opens doors to a future-state operating model that focuses on building business value for customers and teams.

A partnership to address common ERP migration challenges

Some of the most critical business processes run on SAP, with several factors affecting the complexities of the customers’ systems, including custom code, the number of modules running, and the number of users. Understandably, there are valid concerns about moving to the cloud safely and cost-effectively.

Wipro’s strategic collaboration with SAP and Microsoft enables the IT consultant to offer clients a strategic roadmap, leveraging best practices to help them fully harness the potential of RISE with SAP. This will enhance digital operations and overall efficiency and improve customer experiences.

The collaboration also aims to alleviate some of the customers’ critical bugbears including effort and costs during the move to cloud ERP with a simplified journey ahead, including financial incentives that allow clients to achieve a “Near Zero Cost Migration” as they transform into an intelligent enterprise.

How the technology and partnership come together

The partnership between Wipro, SAP, and Microsoft offers investments to help customers reduce technical debts even as they continue their innovation journey and be adaptable to rapid changes.

SAP brings RISE with SAP to the table, helping businesses automate processes and unlock business agility. Features like SAP Build Process Automation automate and optimise cloud ERP processes while SAP Build Work Zone provides a digital workplace experience for customers, suppliers, partners, and the workforce. SAP RISE sits on one of the most reliable and expansive infrastructures, provided by Microsoft Azure and Reproach Transformation Services for quicker adoption.

Where Wipro comes in is its comprehensive services rooted in deep industry knowledge. Recently recognised in SAP S/4HANA revenue growth in the 2024 Gartner® Competitive Landscape: SAP S/4HANA Application Service Providers report, Wipro offers services to help in RISE with SAP migration, delivered through its transformation framework called Wipro eSymphony, a platform that integrates the discovery, assessment, design, and orchestration of digital transformations on a single unified platform.

This accelerates the journey to deliver better business outcomes, bring innovation to the business, and tap into unrealised value from their investments. At the heart of it, Wipro eSymphony helps organisations achieve their desired transformation goals with substantial improvements in simplification, experience, agility, sustainability, and growth.

The partnership also accelerates the system’s go-live through services such as a full discovery and assessment of the customers’ application landscape to better understand the benefits of moving to RISE with SAP, and project management that ensures custom coding management, basis work, functional tasks, and necessary testing.

Equally important, it offers scalable investment to alleviate customers’ commercial burden, aiming to reduce the cost to zero or near zero depending on the complexity of the customer landscape. This includes incentives such as Transformation Funds to provide benefits to ECC and S/4HANA on-premises customers, to massively reduce migration costs.

Building a future-state cloud model

Operating in a state of persistent innovation lets one drive the innovation curve much faster. That, in turn, helps create a composable enterprise, enabling organisations to be more agile while adapting, evolving, innovating, and responding sooner than ever before.

With the help of Microsoft and SAP, Wipro aims to help customers build a future-state cloud operating model. The trio is building customer applications and journeys that help mitigate risk and accelerate the migration to the cloud so the latter can transform into persistent innovators.

Customers working with SAP can expect an assessment of their application landscape and a readiness check to understand their functional landscape to learn, all of it for free. What’s more, the partnership between Microsoft, SAP, and Wipro guarantees unmatched security and monitoring. With tools like Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Monitor, and Defender for Cloud, which complement the SAP monitoring and security, organisations can achieve higher visibility and control over their infrastructure.
