Last year I wrote a blog post questioning whether Google was ready to become a mainstream enterprise vendor. As I pointed out in that post, Google has danced around enterprise for years but has never been able to establish itself as a “go-to vendor.”
CIOs I talk to define their company around certain vendors in different technology areas. They might say they are an “Amazon shop” in the area of cloud or “Microsoft shop” with respect to collaboration, but rarely do I hear a business refer to Google that way.
